The Offshore Partners is pleased to announce they have signed a partnership agreement with OJ Crew based in Lithuania.
OJ Crew is a MLC2006 certified manning agency and has a huge database of maritime and offshore crew (15.000+) with over 150 nationalities. In case we cannot find the best candidate for the job, OJ Crew can support us as manning agent with finding the best candidate.
Also OJ Crew has proven themselves already with 24/7 support and fast communication.
With their experience in maritime and offshore industry together with knowledge of international payrolling and their huge database of crew we believe we have found a solid and reliable partner to expand our crewing activities.
Two weeks ago we had a follow up on the initial MLC 2006 audit done on 23 June 2016. The initial audit was very positive, but do the fact we only had written some procedures and not worked with it was reason for Bureau Veritas to issue a temporarily certificate back in June.
The auditor was very satisfied with the progress we have made in the past half year. Continuing our commercial activities and at the same time implementing procedures in our organisation and even performing internal audits was a big step forward.
We would like to stay on this track and our ambition is to obtain an ISO9001:2015 certificate in 2017.
We would like to thank all team members involved as well as Bureau Veritas.

This week our colleagues Winfred Nugteren and Remmelt Heemskerk visited the international maritime trade fair, SMM Hamburg
SMM gave a very good insight in the latest products and services in the maritime industry. Exhibitors from all over the world and from every part of the maritime value chain presented themselves. Following the global trend of more awareness for a healthy environment, the SMM had dedicated an entire exhibition hall to green propulsion and environmental technology.
Part of the drive for more sustainable marine development is the focus on use of alternative marine fuels like liquefied natural gas (LNG) or methanol and the use of batteries in electric systems as storage medium and peak shaving allowing more efficient use of installed engine power. Also the Offshore Partners has joined the efforts for a cleaner environment, providing advice to our clients on the benefits of these energy saving and clean solutions and as to which solutions would suit their specific needs best. In our opinion this will become the major issue for the near future in the maritime industry.
During the event there were very good talks with a wide group of companies. In the coming weeks The Offshore Partners will follow up the agreements made during the SMM.
Exxon Mobile had organized a business card draw awarding an Ipad to the winner. Remmelt was the lucky one coming out of this draw and received it from Mr. Frans Horjus, Global Marine Lubricants Manager & Director ExxonMobil Marine Ltd. It will definitely allow Remmelt to conduct his business even more efficiently, so Exxon: thanks for that!
STCW Manila Amendments
July 18, 2016
To all maritime and offshore personnel,
On the 01 January 2012 the Manila Amendments to the STCW Convention and Code entered into force. A transitional period of five years was granted to allow seafarers and administrations to comply with the new requirements. This period will end on the 31st of December 2016.
We would like to high light that as per 01 January 2017 all personnel holding a Certificate of Competence (CoC) or Certificate of Proficiency (CoP) must fully comply with the STCW Manila amendments.
In order to comply we strongly advise to contact your Maritime Flag Administration to see which changes applies to you. There are changes for deck officers as well as engineering officers.
Please note that revalidation of training certificates and the revalidation of CoC or CoP by the Maritime Flag Administration also needs time.
How can you do a first check if a CoC or CoP is in compliance with the STCW Manila Amendments? If your CoC or CoP is valid after the 01 January 2017 the requirements are met. If the validation ends before that date you should react fast, only 5 months to go!
Please check your CoC or CoP and in case of doubts contact your Maritime Flag Administration. In case you have additional questions, please contact us.
